Johanna Meyer studied Romance Studies, Psychology and German as a Foreign Language at the Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg. In her master thesis, she investigated the promotion of reading strategies in recently alphabetized learners of German as a second language. After completing her studies, she worked for several years as a teacher for German as a second language for various universities and educational institutions.

Currently, Johanna Meyer is working in the initiative Transfer of Language Education, Reading and Writing Support (BiSS-Transfer) at the Mercator Institute, focusing on the conception, development, revision and implementation of blended learning training programs.
