Nora von Dewitz holds an assistant professorship (Juniorprofessur) in language education and multilingualism. Her primary areas of interest in research and teaching are second language acquisition, multilingualism, language and migration, and multilingual education.
She studied General Linguistics, Spanish, and Modern History at the University of Cologne, and then completed her PhD in Applied Linguistics and Theory of Language at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich with a co-supervision at Cambridge University, where she stayed as a visiting academic. Her PhD thesis was on descriptions of placement events by second language learners of German.
After a year of teaching German language and linguistics at the Centre of German Studies in the Jawarhalal Nehru University in New Delhi, she started lecturing at the university of Augsburg on second language acquisition of German and German linguistics. In 2013, she joined the Mercator-Institute at the University of Cologne and took part in the project Education through Language and Literacy, before she became assistant professor in 2019.
