Simone Jambor-Fahlen studied German studies, Linguistics, and Education at the University of Wuppertal, as well as German as a second Language at the University of Düsseldorf. Since 2008, she has been a member of staff of Prof. Dr. Michael Becker-Mrotzek. In this position, she developed concepts for literacy work and test materials in the BMBF-funded project PAGES - Project for Literacy and Basic Education for Adults in Social Spaces. Simone Jambor-Fahlen did her doctorate on the development of word spelling during the first two years of school. At the Mercator Institute she is responsible for the coordination of the projects Leaving Nobody Behind- Lesen macht stark Grundschule, KANSAS and the online seminar Teaching and Learning Orthography in Primary Schools. She was Deputy Head of Department of Language and Learning from January 2018 to March 2020, and Head of Department from April 2020 to December 2020. Since January 2021 she also leads the BMBF-funded project Schule Macht Stark – SchuMaS.
