Michaela Mörs studied German and English Philology as well as Medieval and Modern History at the University of Cologne; she also completed the supplementary study programme ‚Teaching German as a Foreign Language‘ at the Goethe Institute. Since 2009, she has been a research assistant at the University of Cologne, initially at the Institute for German Language and Literature II, where she was involved in the development of test items in the subject German for nationwide learning assessments in the eighth grade (VERA-8) and for the 2015 state comparison. In addition, she created didactic guidelines for the VERA-8 test materials and was also involved in the review of scientific test items for the 2012 country comparison with regard to their linguistic comprehensibility.
At the Mercator Institute, Michaela Mörs worked on the development of blended learning teacher training courses as part of the federal and state initiative "Education Through Language and Writing (BiSS)" and in the initiative "Transfer of Language Education, Reading and Writing Support (BiSS-Transfer)" in the research project "Systematic Training of Writing Fluency and Writing Strategies" (Schreib-BiSS). Within the Startchancen programme, she now works in the specialist competence centre for language education in the Blended Learning work area.
