Michaela Mörs studied German and English Philology, as well as Middle and Modern History at the University of Cologne and graduated as Magistra Artium. She subsequently completed the supplementary course Teaching German as a Foreign Language at the Goethe Institute. Since 2009, she has been a research assistant to the department chair, Prof. Dr. Michael Becker-Mrotzek. She was initially involved in the development of test items in the subject German for nationwide learning assessments in grade 8 (VERA-8) and the 2015 country comparison. In addition, she created didactic guidelines for the VERA-8 test materials and was also involved in the review of scientific test items for the 2012 country comparison with regard to their linguistic comprehensibility.
At the Mercator Institute, Michaela Mörs is primarily involved in the research project on writing and the development of blended learning teacher training courses within the federal/state initiative Transfer of Language Education, Reading and Writing Support (BiSS-Transfer). Michaela Mörs is writing her dissertation on factors influencing text revision proposals in peer review.
