Magdalena Kaleta studied Romance Studies, Slavic Studies, and German Linguistics, as well as German as Second Language at the University of Frankfurt. While studying, she spent time abroad conducting empirical research in Argentina, in addition to a period of study in France. Upon completion of her studies, Magdalena Kaleta worked as a project coordinator in the language learning project Vorsprung at the Institute for Psycholinguistics and Didactics of German Language at the University of Frankfurt. Magdalena Kaleta also worked in the international offices of different universities where she was responsible for coordinating national and EU projects.

Magdalena Kaleta has a number of years of lecturing experience in the field of teaching German as a Second/Foreign Language, and experience in intercultural education consultation through working as an advisor in the education system.

Since 2016, Magdalena Kaleta has worked as a lecturer and research assistant at the Institute for German Language and Literature II at the University of Cologne (under Prof. Dr. Becker-Mrotzek), coordinating the Cooperation Project Sprachliche Bildung. As project coordinator, she is responsible for the organization and conception of language education courses during the semester, the annual summer school for students with a history of migration, and accompanying administration, such as the project homepage, public relations and, events.

Magdalena Kaleta’s research and teaching focuses in the fields of language education for learners of German as a Second Language, multilingualism research and didactics, language diversity and interculturalism in schools, as well as professionalization in (student) teacher education.
