Julia Hallebach studied German and Mathematics for secondary school teaching and German as a foreign/second language in Trier and Intercultural Communication and Education in Cologne, specializing in multilingualism and global learning. During her studies, she completed an internship at the Goethe Institute in Ireland, taught at a language school in Switzerland and as a DAAD language assistant at the University of Tehran in Iran. Between her studies in Trier and Cologne, she also completed an editorial traineeship at the publisher Bildungsverlag EINS (Westermann Gruppe), which was followed by various activities in the field of internal and external communication.
Since 2021, she has been working as a project manager in the field of qualification and further development of international youth work for IJAB e. V. (International Youth Work Agency of the Federal Republic of Germany) in the project IJA.digital - Internationale Jugendarbeit digital and as editorial director of the publication Datenreport Internationale Jugendarbeit.
As a research associate at the Mercator Insitute she is responsible for the conception of blended learning courses in the meta-project Language Education in the Immigration Society (Metavorhaben Sprachliche Bildung in der Einwanderungsgesellschaft) since April 2024.
