Chantal Knips studied German philology and Catholic Theology at the University of Cologne to become a teacher. Since 2017, she has been a research associate at the Department of German Linguistics (IDSL II) at the University of Cologne in the team of Prof. Dr. Thorsten Pohl. Since 2019, she has worked in the project WibaLeS (Professionelles Wissen von Lehrkräften, Unterrichtsqualität und Lernfortschritte von Schüler*innen im basalen Lese- und Schreibunterricht) and at the Mercator Institute as a research associate in the Language and Learning Department, especially in the project Online-Seminar Orthographie lehren und lernen an Grundschulen.
