Veit Maier studied biology, geography, and German at the University of Cologne to become a teacher for schools (Gymnasium und Gesamtschule). After completing his studies, he became a trainee teacher at the ZfsL in Aachen (Referendariat). In 2018, he completed his dissertation on spatial planning in geography lessons at the Institute of Geography Education. Since 2016, he has also been working at the Merctor-Institute as a lecturer in the DaZ module for geography and natural sciences.
