Evrim Kutlu studied German language and literature at the University of Istanbul. She then completed a master's degree in philosophy, German philology and education at the University of Cologne. After an additional qualification by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) and the examiner qualification by telc, she worked from 2008 to 2012 in different educational institutions as an examiner and lecturer for German as a second language in integration and literacy courses. From 2010 to 2012 she was a lecturer for mathematics in ESF-BAMF courses. Most recently, she was an adjunct lecturer in the Philosophy Department. In 2018, she completed her doctorate in philosophy at the University of Cologne. At the Mercator Institute, she has worked in the teaching and research unit DaZ-Modul since 2016.
