Erol Hacısalihoğlu studied German language and didactics at the University of Marmara in Istanbul. During his master studies, he worked as a research assistant in the department for German language and didactics. After the completion of his master’s degree at the Marmara University, he started to work on his PhD degree, whose project was funded by the DAAD. He then received a one-year scholarship at the University of Koblenz-Landau, Campus Landau, in order to study with Prof. Dr. Hans. H. Reich. In addition to his doctoral thesis, he worked long-term as part of the HAVAS and then FörMig projects. As a result of his work on the projects, he was asked several times to hold advanced training events with Turkish teachers, such as within the frameworks of teacher training in Hamburg, the RAA in North Rhine-Westphalia, and the FörMig model program located in several federal states. The University of Hamburg entrusted him with the realisation of a course (lecture based seminars) in the summer semesters of 2009, 2010, and 2011. In the Winter semester 2012/13 and in the Summer semester 2013, he held the professorship for subject didactics at the Institute for Turkish Studies at the University of Duisburg-Essen. His work focuses on the areas of German as a second language, multilingualism, language diagnostics, and native language teaching (HSU). He is currently working at the Mercator Institute on the DaZ further education course.
