Maike Beyer completed her Master of Education in Special Education with a focus on ‘emotional and social development’ as well as ‘hearing and communication’ at the University of Cologne in 2022. She has also been studying DGS as a school subject since 2021. Maike Beyer has been a Research Assistant in two teaching and research projects focusing on immigrant deaf and hard-of-hearing additional language learners (www.ideall.uni-koeln.de) since May 2022. These projects aim to create research and instructional structures to address central issues of language education of immigrant DHH additional language learners.

Maike Beyer also works as a lecturer in Pedagogy for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing with a focus on Sign Language.
